Ever since I was a little girl I remember being fascinated with light. I would notice how it would soften when the sun went behind the clouds and my favorite time of day was sunset, because it made the world glow. I think I was born to be a photographer.
In 2009, I became the assistant and protégé to one of Georgia’s top commercial and industrial photographers. Working in a fast paced, successful studio for over 5 years gave me the courage and skills to go after my dreams. I started shooting everything from commercial, portraits, fashion, theater, and boudoir. One of the most thrilling moments of my life was when I photographed President Jimmy Carter and Allman Brother's Band founder Gregg Allman. And while I'm not a huge country music fan, photographing Trace Atkins while on his stage was pretty awesome.
But then I discovered weddings, and fell in love with photography all over again. I get so excited before photographing a wedding. I love everything about them, the emotions, the details, and the dresses!
A new chapter.....
I've loved living and working in beautiful Georgia where my clients become my friends and my work is well known. But when my husband Steven was head hunted to work for NASA, we knew we couldn't let him pass up the opportunity to work for such an incredible organization. So in 2017 we made the long trek to Houston, Texas. I'll do my best to root for the Houston Astro's but I can't make any promises; when my Braves are playing in Minute Maid Park I'll be there to do the Tomahawk Chop! So now I set out to grow my business here in the 4th largest city in the country! It's SO exciting!!!
One of my favorite things about my job is that I often get to work with the most beautiful man in the world, my husband Steven! In addition to his smarty pants job at NASA he is also a talented photographer. He is almost always my second shooter and often assists me on photo shoots. We love sharing this aspect of our lives together and it's always helpful to have a second pair of eyes and a strong bloke to carry all my heavy stuff :-) He's a charming gentleman and he's always full of jokes to lighten the mood for clients who are nervous in front of the camera. I feel like we make a great team!
I know what beauty looks like and I see it in everyone. That’s why I love beauty portraiture and boudoir. There’s nothing more fulfilling than the moment that you show a woman proof that she’s beautiful. It’s electric. My clients all become my friends and they walk away from their session with a renewed sense of confidence in their own beauty. That, to me, is priceless.
My style is very bright, airy and "glowy". I want my images to feel timeless and beautiful so that, as wedding photography trends come and go, my work never goes out of style. I'm just waiting for the Instagram-filter look to fade into oblivion!
